I have always been inspired and intrigued by the minimalism and vibrance of urban scenery after dark, and the way certain color film renders these scenes and captures the glow of certain light sources. This series is aimed at showcasing minimal compositions of the nocturnal elements of the Detroit and Ann Arbor city scapes. This set of images was produced using both 35mm and 120mm exposures on Cinestill 800t, a variation of the tungsten-balanced Kodak Vision3 500t cinema film emulsion (used in such productions as Taxi Driver, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Pulp fiction) that has been re-spooled and repurposed for still image photography. To me, this film stock renders color like no other, and has a unique grain structure that truly pops and grabs your attention, creating an instant aura of nostalgia.
